Send fliers to alert groups to the support available at your library including:
   Hospitals

  • New parents
  • Adults who may have become newly disabled or have not previously known about services:
  • Caregivers for elderly patrons

   Senior centers
   Special education programs at local schools
   Supported living communities
   Occupational, physical, and speech therapy programs
   Doctor offices
   Midwives
   Chiropractors
   Acupuncturists
   Health food stores
   Medical supply businesses
   Churches
   Home school networks
Celebrate diversity in your community
   Invite speakers from support agencies
   Keep materials from these agencies available and current
Create and advertise programs geared towards people with special needs, their caregivers, and interested community members
Include a statement of support and programming on your website
   Make it visible on the splash page without requiring the patron or caregiver
   to scroll
   Make sure it is readable by screen readers
   Use an easy to read, large font without images
   Include a contact for questions
Email
   Gather email addresses from people who have a specific interest in support
   services
   Include an encouraging statement for patrons to forward on the email to
   others such as family and friends
   Include an option to be removed at any time recognizing that not all
   disabilities are long term
Invitations or cards
   These can be personal invitations to programs addressed to the participant
   and handed out or cards left on the desk for patrons to pick up on their own
